The city of Lovelle had lain in ruins for years upon end. The small town in the middle of nowhere was nothing to the people of society; just a small deserted place that no one bothered to dispose of. The few people who did recognize the name of the town Lovelle thought it to be uninhabited, cleared of all living things. But this was not the case.
The last thing that had cleared itself out of the town was an illegal pit dog fighting arena, a place where lawbreakers went to battle their dogs till the death as a cruel sport. When the town was excavated, everything was taken, the supplies, the benches, the chairs, and even the roof covering of the small little place. But what wasn’t taken, were the dogs. Yes, the dogs seemed to be too old and injured for their wicked owners to worry about; they could always get new pit dogs, yes, yes.
So the dogs were abandoned with the rest of the town, confined in small metal cages, or chained up to a wooden post in the arena. If someone had been there, they might have helped the dogs, but that never happened. No one came back, and no one ever would.
Being fighting dogs, none of them were going to sit there helplessly and watch each other starve. These dogs would find a way out of the fate laid out before them. Many of them were able to knock their cages over, gnawed through the bars, or simply pulled the chain off of their post to escape. But others were not so lucky. Some never succeeded in fulfilling their escape plot, and died where their owners had last left them. Mind you, there were no friends to help them. In their previous way of living, they had no friends, of course. They were pit dogs, forced to fight another no matter who they were. You couldn’t risk having a friend you might end up killing.
Everyone had to start their lives over again. They had to learn how to make friends, and how to live without their peoples. And I never said it was easy. Lovelle then became the city of the dogs, though humans didn’t really know that.
Generations passed since the old pit dogs had been left, and new families started to erupt in every which way. Some families were brought up the same way as a regular pit dog: Kill, or be killed, while others seemed to have found their place as normal stray dogs. But there is never peace. Murders and wicked happenings are always passed along from throughout Lovelle, city of dogs, and the unstable dog haven had been collapsing.
Is it possible to create a peaceful land, where all can live without fear of one another, or will it always be a place where one will always fall…?
